"Mission Tomorrow" Interactive Career Exploration for Students
"Mission Tomorrow" is the Richmond region’s interactive career exploration event for students, that took place on November 1-2, 2017, at Richmond Raceway.
Thanks to all our volunteers for making this event a great success! We enjoyed the interaction and conversations with each and every 8th grader. Our goal is to encourage students to explore and consider careers in the construction industry and we hope the information we shared was helpful for them to make informed decisions about their futures.
The 8th graders absolutely love the cool VR technology that our BIM (Building Information Modeling) team brought out, and we had a blast showing them how it works!
Wondering why an 8th grader should be thinking about future career choices now? Course choices that a student makes going into their freshman year of high school can significantly impact the career paths available to them. Getting them to start thinking about what they like, what they find fascinating, and what they are good at is a great way to start the discussion about their future career choices.
Hopefully, while exploring their options, they will remember the cutting-edge technology they experienced with us today and consider a career in the construction industry. With the many jobs that are available in our industry, from craftsmen to engineering to management, the opportunities for a successful future are unlimited!
