THE "CAROLINA'S" ARE INVESTED IN THEIR FUTURE
ColonialWebb is committed to providing the training and tools needed for all associates at every level to achieve exceptional results. There are numerous studies indicating employees often leave companies due to their direct manager or supervisor. Studies also indicate the direct manager or supervisor has the greatest impact on employee engagement. Therefore it is imperative ColonialWebb provides an Operations Leadership Program specifically catered to our industry as well as to the specific needs of our managers and supervisors. Their impact on an organization is significant. ColonialWebb must prepare these leaders to effectively deal with the myriad of situations they are faced with on a regular basis. The managers of today have the potential to be the leaders of our future, so we invest in their development to provide a successful career path.
In ColonialWebb’s region of North Carolina and South Carolina, an Operations Leadership Program was implemented. This program spans four months, for two days each month. Classes are facilitated by Joe Lang (SVP CSUSA), Ray Battani (Service VP, ColonialWebb), and Ben Stahl (General Manager, ColonialWebb). The attendees consist of managers and supervisors representing all aspects of our business streams in North and South Carolina. All attendees actively participate during all sessions. They also facilitate presentations to the group, allowing them to refine their professional presentation skills. Role play exercises based on real-life situations they will encounter as leaders are a key part of their training as well. The managers and supervisors are presented with role play scenarios where they formulate effective resolutions, based on the training provided during the classes. The role-plays are an effective method of building self-confidence and problem solving skills to formulate a solution in a controlled environment. Their solution, as well as the delivery, is then critiqued by peers to ensure it is effective and follows what they have been learning. This guarantees both the audience and the role play participants gain valuable feedback from this exercise.
The topics are multi-faceted, intended to cover a comprehensive range of topics. The curriculum covers everything from aligning our operations and sales teams strategies to covering management skills like; accountability, performance reviews, facilitating meetings, objective setting, recognizing and managing different personality types, etc. The goal is to increase employee engagement, eliminate the “trial and error” management style, and implement structure and consistency through all of our departments. The feedback from the attendees has been extremely positive. Most of the attendees have already had the opportunity to put into action with their direct reports and customer interactions what they have learned in the classes. ColonialWebb looks forward to creating even more ways to continue to differentiate ourselves as the leader in our industry!
